EXCESSIVE EASE...

...I test drove my new outfit today.  It is amazes me how the same patterns used with different fabrics  affect the fit.  But then again, I really shouldn't be so surprised.  My pants grew by noon today, and the ITY knit used for my top just didn't have as much snap as the fabric used for my muslin.

The pants fit good this morning with just a little ease.  I'm going back into the side seams this evening to take out that extra ease.  I'll also adjust the back seam of the top to make it hug just a bit snugger at the hemline.  It should be an easy fix.  I'll get this done early this evening and that way both garments will be ready for their next rotation when the time come.  You know me - I'm ready to move on...

    1. Thank you; the pants felt too, too large in the hip area so I was compelled to make the correction. I just completed the job so tomorrow I can feel free to start a new project.

  4. Glad you altered them - if you were not happy , you would not have worn them. You do look nice in the outfit.

    1. You must forgive me Lori, I forgot to mention that these red pants were totally inspired by the red pants you made back in the Spring.

  8. I think your outfit looks fine :) It's funny how fabrics can act so differently. I've even found the same fabric in a different colour can do the same thing. Strange! Very strange!

    1. You are so right Diana. My pants were so loose in the hips that I felt sloppy all day. Not a good look.

  10. I really like your outfit too. There are occasion when I've had to do the same after that first wear. Sometimes I ask myself, "What happened? It fit when I finished it."

You and I made the same top. I wear mine with a red and black pencil skirt. I'm thinking about making some red pants too. ;-)

    1. I remember your top; it made me want a black top too. Your directions and those your post and pattern review lead me to were SO VERY HELPFUL in making this top. Now that I've tightened my top at the hemline I know I will get a lot of wear from it.

  11. This happens to me all the time. Straps fall, pants slip, nacklines become immodest. sheesh! You would think I would remember. Your outfit looks great-very professional but as if you can move around easily.

  12. Pretty outfit but I hear you on the pants growing larger. I hate it when that happens. Do we need to make them a size smaller if there is lycra content? Probably but that takes a leap of faith bigger than I have. I know you will get it all perfect.

    1. I needed to take the pants in an extra 3/4" in the side seam from the pocket to the knee and that fixed them up. You just can't ever tell about fabric ahead of time as to whether it will grow during the day or not.
