#BLC 2018 - Day 13: Off the Shelf...

...today I pulled  Sarah Veblen's "Perfect Fitting" book off the shelf.  I've not read it cover to cover as of yet, but I have visited it numerous times searching for fitting help (pants fitting in particular).

Sarah Veblen recently appeared on the online talk show, "That Sewing Blab".  In case you haven't heard of it, "That Sewing Blab" is broadcasted live every Tuesday Evening on Crowdcast.io. The show is co-hosted by Dawn Pengally and Myra Rentmeester, and features a variety of international sewists, pattern makers, business owners, bloggers and Vloggers.  If you tune in regularly, you are bound to see some of you favorites, AND get to ask real-time questions as well.  They also sponsor a variety of challenges; I think I've won one or two of them.

  •  You can watch all past shows on YouTube
  •   Or, join their FaceBook Group
  •   Follow them these hashtag on Instagram here
  •   Sign up for email notifications
  •   Watch the 128th episode of the show tonight (11/14/18) here

Rather than review "The Perfect Fit" myself, I thought it would be nice for you to hear all about Sarah's fitting/sewing philosophy in her own words. Enjoy!

Note that she mentioned her newly released book "First Time Garment Fitting: The Absolute Beginner's Guide - Learn by Doing" that is going on my WISH LIST right away.  Maybe I should have had that book first!!!

#BLC 2018 - Day 8: Off The Shelf...

...although I will NEVER have every book that I want (because someone is always busy writing the next great one); I have managed to amass quite the Sewing Resource Library.  I thought I'd pull a few of my books OFF THE SHELF this month to not only show them some love, but also make note of some good information and maybe learn a trick or to.

If you asked me to name of my favorite sewing book author, I guess I would have to say Claire Shaeffer based on the number of her books that I own.  Now you know that if I'd not liked and found her books beneficial from the very first one I purchased, there never would have been a second, or third, or fourth, etc., etc.
 My Claire Shaeffer Library
I also have a Claire Shaeffer "wish list".  I can't help it folks; I get my love of books from my Mama!

When I read somewhere that she was born and raised in Georgia it helped me like her even more! 😊 I enjoy Claire's writing style, pictures, and technical drawings.  I find Shaeffer quite the Chanel/couture sewing aficionado.  A fashion historian of sorts, who knows the inside construction of the timeless Chanel jacket that we all love so much like no one else's business.

May I peek inside your sewing library?  What's your favorite sewing book; or who is your favorite sewing book author???
