NATIONAL SEWING MONTH - DAY 13:

...
SEWING TIP OF THE DAY
(Maybe you've heard this, but just in case you haven't)

ROLLED HEMS
Before starting to sew a rolled hem serge or zigzag  the edge of the hem.  This will reduce fraying and give you a sturdy edge and more control over your narrow/rolled hem.

  1. this is a MUST for me for narrow hems. it also reduces pressing time because the serged edges is the exact width for the first turn under!

  2. I do that, too! I find the same thing Tasha says. Sometimes I roll it twice if I want weight behind the hem, maybe on a full skirt where I want extra swing.
