Vogue 8859 Part 2...

...I've never really been a knit pant wearer, but for some reason I was highly attracted to Vogue 8859.  However, a few knit pant patterns have found their way into my stash and so I'm glad I had this one.

Description:  Close-fitting pants with elastic waist, pleats in knee area, back yoke and pockets
I really liked the wearable muslin I made last week so I thought I make second pair before I returned the pattern to the drawer.  This time I did make a few more tweaks and find I like the second pair ever more.
  • I adjusted the front crouch shape rather than the back this time by 3/4"
  • added another 1" to the back yoke
  • in addition to lengthening by 3"

I guess these are a cross between jeggings and leggings according to how close a fit you want.  Pay no attention to the black and white top this was just for try on.  I plan to wear these with a tunic yet to be made.  I had a great time in the sewing room this past weekend even though it was just in making another pair of knit pants...

  2. Nice fit on these Faye! This is such a great style. There's too many knit pants that are either too casual or too tight! These are a great balance--a nice streamlined pant that is tasteful too!

  3. I liked this pattern and bought it last year too but have yet to make it up. I'm happy to read you enjoyed working with this pattern and were able to achieve a great fit fairly easily - do you think a jeggings fabric would work too with this pattern or should I stick strictly to a knit fabric?

    1. I'm not exactly sure what jegging fabric would be like, but I do think whatever you use should have a good amount of snap back ability. When you make then I am sure you will like them a lot. I love the knee detail on these.

  4. Very nice, Ms. Faye. I like the fact that they are a cross between leggings and jeggings. Just yesterday I wore my one and only pair to run errand. Comfortable like leggings, but look more like jeggings. Maybe I'll whip up another pair too.

  11. These paints are really cute. Love the color. I need to buy this pattern. When I buy pants especially like these, by the time I cut them and hem them they lose the fit.

  12. ...and definitely a great looking pair of pants too! I remember a while back, this was a real struggle for you and now you appear to be so comfortable cranking them out for yourself! Great job!
