Stripped, yes stripped - and this was the dickens to match too. but I did manage to so pretty good with it. I allowed the sweater to hang a full 24 hours then set out to conquer the mammoth high-low hem. I DID NOT want to end up with a wavy hem on all this fabric so I used 1/2" Steam-A-Seam on the entire area before stitching. It seems that the Hurricane Michael blew Fall into the area. The weather man saws that we won't be experiencing any more 90 degree temps so I think I'll have a chance to wear this pretty soon...

Hurricane Sewing...
...for the first time since 1856 Middle Georgia experienced an actual Category 1 Hurricane. During hurricane season it's not unusual for us to get residual tropical storms (which can still be horrible); but not a real hurricane! We made it through Praise God, nothing blew away and this time I didn't even lose power - so I sewed...
First up, the new Madison Cardigan from Style Sew Me. HAD TO HAVE IT!!! I wanted to use another sweater knit but didn't have enough yardage, so I used this Aztec striped sweater knit instead.

First, I am so very happy you were not severely impacted by Michael! That truly was a very bad one! Very nice way of spending your time while weathering the storm too! It's beautiful! And I bet you can't wait to wear it too! It got a little cooler here to after the storm.
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much Myra!
DeleteLove, love, love your new cardigan! This is going to be amazing on. Glad you survived the hurricane and used it to your advantage.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn! I hope that's the last of the bad weather for this year.
DeleteI'm sew glad you are safe! Your cardigan is lovely! Not sure I would have thought to use steam a seam! Great tip!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carrie. Yes, I was introduced to steam-a-seam some years back. I did not like it at first, but then really fell in love with it for hemming knits. It works well for me.

DeleteI love this new cardigan. I think you did a great job matching the stripes. Glad you survived the hurricane. We got some rain and mostly wind from Michael. We lost some more shingles and the tarp that was up on the roof to cover the lost of shingles from Florence was torn off by the winds. We did not lose power, glad you are okay and that you did not lose power. This cardigan was a great use of your sewing time. It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda! You didn't even get a good break between Florence and Michael. Hopefully this was the last of the hurricane attacks for this season.
DeleteLove the cardigan. I'm glad you did not loose power and you are ok.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mariela!
DeleteSo glad you missed this horrendous storm. Being inland has a few advantages and sewing through a hurricane sounds like a great one. I LOVE this cardi and it so your style. The colors are awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Bunny!
DeleteGlad you're safe and sound after your hurricane Love the drama of the cardigan. The colors are so amazing. Bet it looks fantastic on you! Is that a new pants pattern I see?
ReplyDeleteThank you Catherine! Yes it's a new jogger pants pattern for comfy at home wear. I'll be blogging about them next.
DeleteSo glad to hear that you got through the hurricane. That must have been scary.
ReplyDeleteThe resulting sewing project is fab! I'm loving your fabric choice and it makes for a stunning Madison
Thank you Diane! Yes, Wednesday night was quit unnerving. I can't wait to wear the cardigan.
DeleteI am thankful to hear that Michael was not terrible for you either! And look at the beautiful cardigan you were able to sew! It is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vanessa!
DeleteGlad to know that the storm did not harm you. I was so worried for you!
ReplyDeleteThe cardigan is absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you for being concerned about me Irene! Spending an entire day and night with weather alerts is a bit nerve wrecking. Thank you for your comment on my cardigan.
DeleteGlad you were safe and sound through the storm Faye! My parents and two of my siblings are in GA so I was glued to the alerts too.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a rough few hurricane seasons!
I think I'll have to grab that cardigan pattern! Looks great!
