WHAT'S YOUR GAME PLAN...

...Everyday I see more and more bloggers making plans for Fall sewing.  I'm one of them, even though there's still 4 1/2 weeks of Summer left before we officially celebrate the Autumnal Equinox.  I'm a self-proclaimed proclaimed Spring/Summer kind of girl.  Even still, I do love sewing for the Fall/Winter.  There are so many ideas and plans flying around my head that I need to hire a fashion traffic controller.  Those ideas and plans are causing some real sewing excitement!

I ripped this page from a J.C. Penney catalog months ago because it fits the "easy dressing, plain and simple" side of my esthetic perfectly.  It's been hanging out on my inspiration board waiting for just the right moment.
I'm in love with #1,2,5,6, 7, and 8 - and have been on a mad hunt for fabric to match up for weeks. Of course there are some dressier garments on the horizon as well.
I think it will make a very nice cardigan substitute.  So this jacket is one of my FALL MUST HAVES.

What is your FALL MUST HAVE PATTERN???

  1. I am itching to make the Roza Blouse. I'm not sure if I want to embroider the center panel or screen print it. Probably both!

  4. Love your inspiration board idea! Lately I've had no inspiration to sew anything for myself as I already have lots of clothes that I never get to wear as I wear a uniform to work and we hardly go out as there's not many places to go lol. But I have been really inspired to utilize my sewing skills for sewing dolls clothes and have a whole wardrobe planned for my new Ellowyne Wilde doll that I'm looking forward to sewing.

    1. Chris I had to laugh when you mentioned my inspiration board idea!. The board is actually so crowded up with patterns, pictures, and other things that I want to keep up with - a real mess in other words. I think your Ellowyne Wilde doll is too cute. I had never heard of her before.

  7. I really need a light jacket to throw on until the winter coats and jackets get pulled out. I've chosen Simp 2153 and can't wait to get started. Love your choices, Faye.

  8. Hi Faye! Oh, it will be all about easy dressing for me this Autumn! Things that go with make-up free face and curly hair, if you know what I mean :)

    1. Nothing like a great concentrated sewing plan Farhana. And sounds like you have just that.

  10. I am in the fall sewing mood and will not make another summer garment. I am trying to develop a sewing plan so that I can make a dent in some of the fabric from my stash. I am gravitating towards the more classic pieces. I do want to make a Chanel-esque jacket this year out of a burgundy boucle I've had for a while. Who knows. Like you, too many thoughts running around in my head.

    1. I know Necie, all these random sewing thoughts have crowded my head. It would be nice to do a great Chanel look-a-like jacket.

  12. I don't really plan ahead for the different seasons. I usually make things when I find that I need them but have been doing a little bit of planning lately. More dresses and some long sleeve shirts are a must for me.

  13. I am ready for Fall and my plan is to make several jackets and currently muslin a coat pattern (M6657), but my mind is swirling overtime with other projects and like you so need a fashion traffic controller...lol.

I just purchased that Sew Simple jacket pattern.

  14. Actually my plan is to make a plan for fall sewing today. I'm busy photographing fabric/pattern combos and making a folder entitled Fall/Winter wardrobe Planning. I'm hoping this will help me to use up fabrics and get organized rather than sewing helter skelter.

    1. A 6Pac certainly sounds interesting Towanda. I've always wanted to make one. A 4Pac is about as far as I've ever gotten. How many outfit possibilities does a 6Pac equal?

  16. My 'must-have' pattern was McCall's 6796. I finally got it and have now added the new New Look knit skirt to my wishlist. It's time to transfer these patterns from 'must have' to 'must sew'!

    1. I really do agree with you about McCall's 6796. It certainly was a must purchase pattern for me. Haven't seen the New Look Knit skirt pattern yet - headed over to take a look now.

  17. I don't know which pattern will define fall sewing for me. I've got a few in mind, as you know. I'll have to see which one hits me hardest, in the end.

The weather here just won't let me get in groove with Fall sewing but I would like to make M6796, S1539, and S1540.

  20. I love that pattern! What a great picture! It's way too hot to be thinking about fall (plus we don't really have a fall here in Austin... :P). Although I've been itching for a light boxy jacket just like the pattern you have picked out!
