...I truly have missed you!
Since I didn't get much wear out of it last year, today I decided it was high time to wear my Michael Kor's Vogue 2873 peacoat. I really do love my jacket; the color and the fit. It makes me feel so special, and it should considering the amount of time I put into it, and the cost of the buttons sewn on it. After seeing the gorgeous jackets made by Erica and Lori last year, and since the OOP pattern had been marinating in my pattern stash for years, I felt I had to have one for myself.
I made the coat during Victoria's Fearless February 2013 Challenge. Today, paired with a super loud striped turtle neck sweater (hey, after all it was Friday), a jean skirt and riding boots it took me comfortably through the last work day of the week.
Ninot Jacket status:
Cut the lining last night, now to finish sewing it and do the hems. Should be finished sometime tonight...

I remember following your progress through this coat. You did a great job and you wear it well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you followed along when I was making this coat L. It was a real ordeal, but I'm still in love with the results.
DeleteNice colors...nothing wrong with chillin on a Friday! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you JC. And I agree about chillin on Fridays sometimes.
DeleteLovely! Isn't that the color of 2014? You wear it so well. ~Teri
ReplyDeleteIt is in that color family. Thank you Teri!

ReplyDeleteThanks Diana! I agree the pattern is a gem. Glad I finally got the courage to try it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a compliment. Thank you Rhonda!
DeleteMs. Faye...what a beautiful color on you. I am in awe of you and your sewing skills, your story seems similar to mine. One day I will be back where I was, but until then am inspired by you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane. I'm at this level with the help of other bloggers and my sewing book library. I still have so far to go.
DeleteIt is a beautiful jacket and color. I always spend a lot on buttons. If you are going to spend that much time on a garment it deserves to have great buttons!
ReplyDeleteI should have screamed about the cost of the buttons Nancy, because the fabric was gifted. I just was not use to that price for buttons. I'm glad that I got them though.
DeleteGreat jacket, Faye. The colorful is so great to look at on a dreary snowy day and it is very flattering as well. Really nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bunny. I can't wait to see your new coat.
Deletenice jacket! & finished just in time for the yeards new color, lol! I purchased some orchid fabric, now to get busy!
ReplyDeleteHelen
Thank you Helen!
DeleteWow, you should definitely be proud of this jacket! Gorgeous colour and fabric and it fits you so well. You know what Faye? I STILL have not finished Victoria's Fearless February Challenge. I was working on Burda tailored trousers, but they were really just too advanced for me, with welt and side pockets, a zip fly front, etc. as at that time, I had only been sewing for 3 months, so I put them on 'hold'. I am confident that I will be able to go back and finish them now, though.
ReplyDeleteTime to pull that project back out again. I think I read that Victoria is planning a Fearless February Challenge again this year. We'll have to watch for it.
DeleteSo very nice, and loving that color my friend. I am not ready for coats or so I think. I gradually get there eventually.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie. I know what you mean about not being ready but gradually getting there. I still have 4 yards of coating fabric in my closet that I purchased 6 or 7 years ago when I first started sewing and thought I was going to make a coat. Needless to say that coat didn't get made, but now I'm ready for it - if I could just get to it. It might involve make a coat during the summer to have it done by fall.
DeleteBeautiful jacket! I love the color.
