TODAY'S INSPIRATION BROUGHT TO YOU BY CHICO'S...

...as mentioned last post - "Inspiration can come from anywhere, at any time; and anything, anywhere—can spark the creative process".   I can't exactly put my finger on what it is about Chico's that always catches my eye - the catalog always brings a smile to my face even more than the September issued fashion magazines.
  •  Pumpkin bracelet length swing jacket
  • Camel cowl neck knit dress
  • Blurred purple boyfriend cardigan
  • Renaissance red turtleneck
  • Do I dare faux fur vest
  • Red leopard scarf
I could easily make these pieces appear from my sewing room.

What catalog or online stores spark inspiration for you???

  1. I always remember as a child, Mum use to receive the Sears Roebuck catalogue in the mail! You must remember that to an Aussie in the 60's that was 'BIG TIME!' A hint of what the other side of the globe was wearing. I would pour through the catalogue, and secretly pick one garment off each page to wish for ... and now, how times have changed, because I have a 'No Junk Mail' notice on my letterbox because of the inundation of catalogues/brochures that fill it up daily. Now inspiration comes at the click of a finger on the Internet ~ love the modern times ... J

    1. What about that? Never thought the Sear's catalog would make it all the way to Australia. Shows you how much I know! We used to get a catalog called Allens or Aldens when I was a child. Had the cutest little girl dresses. I do enjoy the convenience of internet catalog snoop shopping too.

  2. Boston Proper catalog is my inspiration! I look at some of the beautiful clothing and feel I can make that, I just need more time!!! I'm also inspired by some of the beautiful photo shots fellow bloggers are able to get for their posts too! The scenic views are fabulous! I inspired to do that one day soon and not so many work "bathroom" shots, LOL!!!

Talbots often does it for me. Their latest catalog was really great - I wanted one of everything. Brooks Brothers used to have catalogs full of inspiration but they've changed in the last few years. So I hang on to the old ones and page through them every once in a while.

    1. Oh yes Alexandra, the clothes you make do remind me of classy Talbot's designs.

  4. I skim through all the catalogs and newspaper ads, because you never know when something just wonderful will appear in front of you! I also love seeing the clothes you make, and it makes me happy to know that you are teaching so many young ladies your skills, and doubtless inspiring them all the while.

  6. Coldwater Creek was my go-to for years...somewhere I still have a notebook w/ inspirational outfits that I cut out of the catalogs. I'm not much into Pinterest, but a sizable number of my 'Sewspiration' board pins came from CWC. So sad to see them close...haven't spent enough time hunting to have a go-to inspiration replacement yet...
