BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 DAY 27: I Like The Way She Sew...

...multi-talented and skilled is how I would describe her!   Handmade By Regina is a blog after my own heart.  It is where Regina shares her DIY projects with a primary focus on apron making, needle-craft, quilting, crafts and apparel making.  She has such an affinity for pretty aprons (I do too); and explains it by saying, "For me the apron is a sweet reminder of mothers, aunties, grandmothers and godmothers of my childhood.  Today I make aprons as reminders of the joys those ladies brought to my life!".   She regularly features her "Fabulous Apron Friday" segments that you will not want to miss.  You can take a peek here, here, here, and here.

Regina has showcased her skills at Handmade By Regina since July of this year.  She also Knits and Crochets!  Her designs  and sewing adventures can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest...

BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 DAY 26: I Like The Way She Sews...

...Network/Telecom Contractor by day; Master Tailor/Seamstress by night - it's always such a joy when my smart phone whistles (Periscope) and I click on and hear Carol Crocker-Ware's contagious laugh.  Known to many as @anncie200l, Carol can often be found generously sharing expert tailoring and sewing tips.  On one occasion  she completely deconstructed a man's jacket to show ALL who watched its tailored elements and explained the function of each one.  Then there was the time that she did a tutorial on how to remove serger stitches (just because I asked for help).  If you tune in to watch, she'll have you laughing all the way through the learning process.

I have to give Carol credit for keeping me on my toes when it comes to good sewing tips such as:
  • when you think your pinking shears are dead as a door knob, put a little oil on them to lube, wipe clean and they will cut like new
  • clean your sewing machine and serger on a REGULAR basis
  • how to taper a pants leg that is a bit too wide
  • install an elastic waist treatment in about 10 different ways
  • and on and on and on

I should warn you though; Carol's always got jokes!  You sent me a picture of your infamous fabric stash closet just to taunt me - DIDN'T YOU CAROL???
ALERT:  BEWARE OF CAROL.  Guard your own fabric stash with all diligence when ever you come in contact with her.  She'll have you sending your precious yardage to her house - I call her the "FABRIC WHISPERER".

You can find the "FABRIC WHISPERER" oh, I meant to say Carol at:

BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 DAY 20: I Like The Way She Sews...

...my friend Cecil introduced me to Linda's blog, Ellegeemakes.com, early last summer, and I immediately became a regular follower of her blog. Everything she makes turns out just right - petite and cute and always in just the right color and style for the season.  I love watching people who make sewing seem so easy, so effortless, and so painless - even though I know it's sometimes not.

Linda, (I never met a Linda I didn't like - really) has been a blogger since March 2015. There's nothing like a great tie neck blouse - here Linda uses Butterick 6378. Tops, sweaters, pants, coats, jackets, jeans or skirts - it seems nothing intimidates her  - You'll see.  She makes it all in no time flat.  Linda's motto is:  From Inspiration to Creation - and you can watch as she brings it all to life.
She enjoys sewing, baking, writing and Fashion Design; and can be found on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 DAY 17: I Like The Way She Sews...

...i sew, you sew, we all sew.  After all, basic clothing construction is not exactly rocket science.  If you can read the pattern instruction sheet, have a good sewing resource book, or make use of You Tube - help be out videos. we can end up with pretty decent hand-made garment results.  But, there is still one major problem; that being the issue of F-I-T!

Remember when you could just choose a pattern, quickly determine the right size, and cut the pattern right out of the envelope?  Well, if you are anything like me, that doesn't just automatically happen every time anymore.  Patterns have changed a bit since many of us first learned to sew; but more so - our bodies have changed.  Very little if anything at all was taught in Home Ec about fit or pattern alterations, so what happens when:
  • Your waist measurement is not even printed on the pattern size chart
  • You are overly endowed in the butt area causing dresses and skirts to hike up in the back
  • One hip is higher than the other
  • You cup size is triple D and the pattern is designed for a B Cup
  •  You can't understand the difference in the pattern envelopes finished garment measurements and the information printed on the tissue pattern
All these problems (and many others) pop up in sewing rooms every day.  So what's a sewist to do?  Resource books and videos offer some assistance, but sometimes we still don't quite understand the proper way to address fit problems.  It would be helpful if  we had someone to actually show us!
When the student is ready...the teacher will appear.
Enter Andrea Davis of SewToFit.  Guess I should have titled this post "I Like the Way She Fits".
Not knowing how to fit sewing patterns can be down right frustrating.  Andrea, offers help in this area, gives solutions and shows you how to incorporate them, and is even available to answers questions on several different teaching platforms.  Look for her as @sewtofit on Periscope, Zoom, GumRoad, and You Tube.

Andrea blogs over at SewToFit.com and can also be found on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as @sewtofit...

BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 DAY13: I Like The Way She Sews...

...i reached out to Stefanie of Sea of Teal to ask if she would participate in my BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 "I Like The Way She Sews" segment.  I asked if she would share a picture wearing her favorite make.   Her response; "I have so many... it was really, really hard choosing".  I agree that it must have been a very hard task because I haven't seen one of her projects that I did not like.  Her blog is like a breath of fresh sea air whenever I visit.  Stefanie has a chic and unique style all of her own.  She's very skilled in her  ability to team up just the right fabrics and colors which is part of the reason that "I Like The Way She Sews"!

I especially enjoyed her recent wedding dress process and subsequent wedding photos.   I won't elaborate on that here; you can read all about it as you sail the Sea of Teal.  Without further ado, here's just ONE of her favorite makes
You can read all about Stefanie's favorite make (and many more) here
A very talented and colorful sewist to follow, you can also find Stefanie as @Seaofteal on:

Candice is a talented seamstress who follows the trends, BUT adopts them to her own special style - No cookie cutter fashions here.   I've followed Candice for quite some time - from Japan, to Texas, and now Hawaii, and I've never seen a garment she's made that didn't grab my attention - take this trendy floral kimono for instance; just the right piece for date night, or any other occasion.  She doesn't shy away from any pattern and has a tendency to make sewing seem so effortless.  I like the way she sews!

Candice's Profile Description:  "I am a wife and mommy to three, but in all of that- I am a seamstress who loves sewing and connecting with other people who love the art of sewing!"

BLOGLIKECRAZY 2016 DAY 6: I LIKE THE WAY SHE SEWS...

...have you ever visited a sewing blog and thought to yourself, "I like the way she sews".  The way she styles her makes, the patterns and fabrics she chooses, the fit she achieves, or even her photographs.  You like it all - you like the way she sews.

I can't remember how I found Anne Whalley.com
but every time I see her name pop up on my Bloglovin feed or in an Instagram post, my eyes widen and what ever she's wearing gets my full attention.

I took this quote from Anne's Pattern Review.com profile:

"I am excited about fabric and commercial patterns. I am an image consultant who specializes in connecting the right fabric with the right pattern. I love to test patterns and discover go-to patterns that deliver an outfit that reveals individual personality and suits the body shape and looks great."
What about this dress and back drop?  My jaw dropped when I first saw it.
As an Image Consultant Anne is "Passionate about bringing out the best in you".
