SPRINGS BRIGHT HUES...
Every color of the rainbow is in, making planning for Spring sewing so exciting.
Seems to me when making the more tapered or skinny legged pants using fabrics with just a bit of stretch would make good sense.
Does anyone have suggestions on what type of fabric would be a good choice for making pants like these; or what fabric source or vendor to use?

For pants fabrics I do really like to feel the weight in person. But Ann at Gorgeous Fabrics usually marks weights pretty well, and you can always email her....
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite here is the flowing purple trousers. :)
I so love these bright colors this season. I would also think that using the stretch fabric would make a lot of sense. Can't wait to see your new pants!
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely use a bottom weight stretch twill. You can usually find them in bright colors. I've had good luck with fabric from DenverFabrics.com. But don't order if you need it right away. It seems to take about 10 days to receive your shipment.
ReplyDeleteI was also going to say a stretch twill or other stretch cotton bottom weight fabric. I just love how cheerful the color pallet for spring is!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and colors. I would think any twill or denim with some lycra would be great.
ReplyDeleteStretch drill or stretch sateen would be my choice. I'm really enjoying the reappearance of bright colours and they slot right into my wardrobe. Looking forward to seeing what you make.
ReplyDeleteI too am looking forward to what you make, keeping these inspiring photos in mind. I agree with the others, a stretch cotton twill or sateen would be wonderful. I just ordered some nice navy from Ann at Gorgeous Fabrics and I am really happy with the quality and feel.
ReplyDeleteI agree that some sort of stretch twill sounds like the way to go. Can't wait to see what you choose!
ReplyDeleteLet me jump on the stretch cotton sateen band wagon! I really like this fabric for these type of slacks. I like Fabric Mart or Mood Fabrics. They have a little faster shipping. I'm excited too Faye about the Spring colors! Good luck shopping!
ReplyDeleteThose colors are great! I agree with almost everyone above... a stretch twill, sateen, or denim. What color are you going to make?
ReplyDeleteThose inspiration pants are lovely and really like the purple wide leg pants. I agree with the others' recommendation for fabric choice.
ReplyDeleteI love colored pants. I am planning to make some cobalt blue and some mustard ones--I hope. I have never been really successful with pants, but I am motivated by all the pretty colorful pants out there. I really like the purple ones. I am planning on using some stretch twill or stretch sateen.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear pants, and so can't offer an intelligent comment. I do love the bright colors for this year, though!
ReplyDeleteI agree, a bottom weight, stretch cotton, some sort of cotton twill would be perfect. Stretch is a must for these pants
ReplyDeleteSuch a timely topic and one that I have also pondered on my blog. I recently made a pair of ankle pants from cotton sateen with 3% lycra. They are lightweight but stretch out a bit too much for me over the day. Stretch twill would be perfect weight.
ReplyDeleteOh how I need EVERY single pair of these fabulous pants! WOW! Kiah
