SEWING SPACES/SEWING ESSENTIALS/WHAT DO YOU LOVE...

...my baby shears and thread snips.  All sizes shapes, all sizes.  I keep them posted in different areas on the sewing table and in different areas of the room.  I want them handy, within arms reach at all times.  I love them, wouldn't want to be without them.

I want several more types and colors.  Kai has a short pair that I've placed on my wish list.  What do you love about or in your sewing space...

  1. I love the Kai embroidery scissors with the bent handle for clipping threads off my garments. They are my faves.

  2. I absolutely love my sewing space, from my sewing table that I made from an old door to my pegboard that keeps everything organized including my scissors. I plan on spending some quality time there real soon.

  3. I keep some things handy - those tools I use every garment, and other scissors tucked away in a special drawer. My space is a little cluttered, but I know where everything is - I do have to put things away or it would be unusable.

    1. Sarah talk about CLUTTERED, you should see how it looks like here! But I agree, as long as I know how to find things that's all that matters.

  4. I have many loves in my sewing space. I like my cutting table (an old library table from school), thread snips (use them ALWAYS), cutting mat, magnetic pin cushion, and lots of light.

    1. IKR L! I love so many things in my sewing room too. That's why I decided to do a little feature about all of them. Really, I am so grateful to have all of my sewing things.

  5. I've just moved back into my sewing room that was temporarily (almost a year) taken over by our embroidery business which we just moved out to our studio. I love it all! Right now I cut on our dining room table (we have another one for eating) b/c it's huge but it's low & a back-killer. I might like one of those higher, folding/storage-underneath ones someday but would want something sturdy. Any ideas?

    1. So glad you've gotten to move back in and hope you enjoy EVERY SINGLE MINUTE in there. I know that cutting table thing is a back killer. Hope you get a suitable solution worked out real soon about that. I saw a great "make it yourself" table on Closet Case Files blog you might take a look at. Another option is one that I've got pinned on my "Sewing Spaces" board on Pinterest. It's made by using pre-made book shelves (three or four shelves high) on each end and simply laying a flat board on top. I like the pinterest table because using the pre-made book shelves also gives you extra storage options underneath. Happy sewing!
