ONCE UPON A UFO...

...when Erica Bunker and then Lynne B made their Burda 7368 tunics, of course it was something that I thought I had to have right here, right now.

That was way back in 2011!  Yep, just two months shy of three years I made this shirt sans the eleven (11) buttonholes/buttons it would take to complete.  The tunic has hung in my closet as a constant reminder that I needed to sit down and make all those buttonholes and sew on the pre-purchased buttons.  All together now, lets say - LAZY!

Finding myself twix and between projects this weekend - not really knowing what I want to sew next, today was the day to finish the dreaded 3 year old UFO.  I think I broke a record here.  Sidenote:  unpicking a misplaced buttonhole = not much fun.
I can wear it belted,

Or not.

Which do you think?????

  1. Might have been a long time coming, but I'll bet you get lots of wear from it--a great basic for sure!

Unpicking buttonholes is the worst thing ever.

    1. It was an extremely long time indeed. Don't tell anyone, but there's one more UFO lurking around in here.

  3. I love tunics! I refuse to shame anyone for a ufo. I have some much older and feel guilt. I even have an unfinished baby sweater for my 13 year old that I started before he was born. As for unstitching buttonholes, I have come to believe that it is just a given. I need to unstitch just about one every couple projects.

    1. You can save the sweater for your son's son later on.

  4. Well that's a very nice looking garment! Personally, I like it unbelted but depends on what you wear it with. Like your choice of fabric too.

  5. I love tunics. I like the color and style -- and just in time for summer! And speaking of buttonholes, I think they are a necessary evil. One day if and when I improve upon my buttonhole skills, I might change my mind. :)

    1. My Baby Lock Sophia 2 makes lots of really great buttonholes. My problem is getting just the right placement. I just never felt like making 11 of them.

    1. Thank you very much. The delay was caused by laziness associated with working 11 buttonholes and sewing on 11 buttons.

  9. So worth the effort! This is a great tunic. I'm with you on unpicking a buttonhole - and I've had to do it way too many times!

    1. Thank you Coco. I had to remove 2 misaligned ones from this project. Very time consuming.

  14. I think we all have a few UFOs in our closet. I'm glad you got the chance to finally finish it. It's a winner and I'm sure you'll get lots of chances to wear it. It's perfect for this time of the year. Belted or unbelted it will look great on you.

  19. This is a color that you'll probably find yourself leaning towards a lot. It 's a beautiful top that was so worthy of being added to your wardrobe.

But you know...them buttonholes gotta be juuuuuuust right! Glad you finished this one. I bet you'll get much wear out of it...not to mention "it's been a looooong - long time comin' " I like it with and without the belt!
