That was way back in 2011! Yep, just two months shy of three years I made this shirt sans the eleven (11) buttonholes/buttons it would take to complete. The tunic has hung in my closet as a constant reminder that I needed to sit down and make all those buttonholes and sew on the pre-purchased buttons. All together now, lets say - LAZY!
Finding myself twix and between projects this weekend - not really knowing what I want to sew next, today was the day to finish the dreaded 3 year old UFO. I think I broke a record here. Sidenote: unpicking a misplaced buttonhole = not much fun.
I can wear it belted, |
Or not. |
Which do you think?????
Might have been a long time coming, but I'll bet you get lots of wear from it--a great basic for sure!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll wear it a lot. Thanks Linda.
DeleteCute!!!! That's a long time UFO! :)
ReplyDeleteUnpicking buttonholes is the worst thing ever.
It was an extremely long time indeed. Don't tell anyone, but there's one more UFO lurking around in here.
DeleteI love tunics! I refuse to shame anyone for a ufo. I have some much older and feel guilt. I even have an unfinished baby sweater for my 13 year old that I started before he was born. As for unstitching buttonholes, I have come to believe that it is just a given. I need to unstitch just about one every couple projects.
ReplyDeleteYou can save the sweater for your son's son later on.
DeleteWell that's a very nice looking garment! Personally, I like it unbelted but depends on what you wear it with. Like your choice of fabric too.

I love tunics. I like the color and style -- and just in time for summer! And speaking of buttonholes, I think they are a necessary evil. One day if and when I improve upon my buttonhole skills, I might change my mind. :)
ReplyDeleteMy Baby Lock Sophia 2 makes lots of really great buttonholes. My problem is getting just the right placement. I just never felt like making 11 of them.
DeleteLooks really nice. What was the hold up?
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. The delay was caused by laziness associated with working 11 buttonholes and sewing on 11 buttons.
DeleteI like your blouse. Belted or not it is very nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Necie!
DeleteThat is a pretty tunic! I think it looks good with or without belt :) Hope you have a fun wearing it! Happy sewing
ReplyDeleteThank you Hana!
DeleteSo worth the effort! This is a great tunic. I'm with you on unpicking a buttonhole - and I've had to do it way too many times!
ReplyDeleteThank you Coco. I had to remove 2 misaligned ones from this project. Very time consuming.
Deletep.s. no belt is my favorite, a classic look over jeans...
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteA great tunic! It could be worn both ways but I prefer no belt.
ReplyDeleteI like it unbelted too Shelly.
ReplyDeletelove it...i have that pattern in my "to try next pile". glad to see you bucked up and finished it!
ReplyDeleteHope you like it when you make it. It won't take you as long as I took.
DeleteI think we all have a few UFOs in our closet. I'm glad you got the chance to finally finish it. It's a winner and I'm sure you'll get lots of chances to wear it. It's perfect for this time of the year. Belted or unbelted it will look great on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea.
DeleteI believe Andrea is correct Faye, we do all have some UFO's in our closets! But you completing this one was something you definitely had to do Faye because it is soooo mice! It was worth your hand work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Myra I tryk hard not to have UFO's. But this one just lingered and lingered. So glad it's done.
ReplyDeleteOh and it's beautiful!I have quite a few Ufo's including one that is 8 years old that I'm determined to make this summer!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diana. I do hope that you conquer your UFO too,
ReplyDeleteThis is a color that you'll probably find yourself leaning towards a lot. It 's a beautiful top that was so worthy of being added to your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! This is too funny! Buttonholes...I feel you! I have a dress in the UFO pile that has about 9 buttonholes and I keep saying I'll get to it. But you know...them buttonholes gotta be juuuuuuust right! Glad you finished this one. I bet you'll get much wear out of it...not to mention "it's been a looooong - long time comin' " I like it with and without the belt!
ReplyDeleteLove the tunic! Perfect for summer!
