I know that everybody knows exactly what this is - yes, you're right, it's a tiny little thimble! I know you can't read the inscription on my fuzzy picture, but it says Santa Monica, CA.
I've had it for a while, a special gift from my friend.. I know that any gift brought back to you by a vacationing friend should be appreciated, but even more so when you know the person took the time to think about YOU while in the midst of enjoying themselves - relaxing from the cares of the world. I don't know about you, but just how many shot glasses does one need. Although I'm thankful for the thought, I'm sure I've received more than my fair share of those things. But when the vacationer chooses something specific to you and what you love, I think it means just a little bit more.
It's been two and a half years since I've seen my friend, Carol Mickens. Why?, because she's off walking in her dream! I can't begin to count the times we talked about our visions and she'd say, "I want to work overseas". Well dreams do come, and visions do come to fruition when we really truly believe. Carol is proof of that as she goes to work every day in Yokosuka-shi, Japan. I know I don't say it often enough, but I miss you, but I am so very happy for you because not everyone gets to walk in a dream! Again, I thank you for my gift because - it's the little things that mean so much...
I am choked up and a bit speechless. Thank you for saying such beautiful words. Your friendship means a lot to me. Heck, you are a member of the family. My family loves and misses you when you cannot hang out with us for the holidays, but we understand you being with your babies. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHey I really do miss you and the family too. I choked up while writing this. Who is CJ Smith?

ReplyDeleteNice post! I have several and can't quite figure out how to properly use the darn thing! LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you Tee. Must admit that this is just a precious keepsake cause I'm thimble challenged as well!
DeleteThe little things mean the most. I nearly cried over the loss of my grandmother's glass icicles in the fire, and then when they were found, I about danced for joy. They don't mean much to anyone else, but I had only had them for one year, and I thought they were gone. I'm so glad you have this little reminder of your friend Carol to bring a smile to your face; thanks for sharing that smile with us.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet the glass icicles are beautiful I'm so glad you found them.
DeleteAww, such a beautiful post! It is those thoughtful gifts that you treasure so much.
