I am greatly saddened by the news of my good friend Paco Peralta's passing on yesterday. My prayers are extended towards his family, friends, and the fashion/sewing community. I called him friend! We communicated virtually and by mail for over a decade. I gleaned from his extensive knowledge, and he truly touched my life personally through his giving spirit. I will forever hold the memory of our friendship dear to my heart, as well as cherish the gifts that he shared with me - they will always have a special place in my sewing room...
I found Paco and his patterns about 15 years ago shortly after I had lived in barBarcelona for 3 months. We had a lovely conversation about Barcelona and I purchased some of his custom jewelry as well as patterns of his custom designs. I am saddened that he no longer is with us.

DeleteOh I am so sad to hear this. He even communicated to me in the early days and encouraged and complimented my sewing. He was such a gentleman and a true artist.

ReplyDeleteI truly found our virtual friendship amazing. Without the internet we never would have met, I truly wish I had been able to meet him in person.
DeleteI will miss him, too, Faye. He was so unique, so generous of spirit in a field that could be smothering with egocentricity. He stood out for his kindness and amazing ability to make friends and certainly his talents. I love that he loved designing for all women. He saw the beauty in all of us, not just runway models, and provided us with such lovely designs. I think I will find a special place to go this week and wear the shirt I made from one of his patterns, just to feel his presence and to remind me what the legacy of a warm and encouraging heart means.

DeleteI am deeply saddened to hear that he is no longer with us. When I started my blog Paco was one of the first to comment on my blog. And for the next couple of years we communicated with each other in Spanish and if I had any questions I could always send him an e-mail. My sincere condolences to his loved ones.

DeleteI am shocked to read this. I had not learned of this. I too have had contact with him in the past and was so glad to see his designs both as an indie and recently with Vogue. He was always encouraging and he will be sorely missed.
