ESSENTIAL TOPS SAL UPDATE
40 TOPS COMPLETED AND POSTED
8 DAYS TO GO
...So many of you have thanked me for hosting the 2013 Essential Tops Sew-A-Long, and I say YOU ARE VERY WELCOME!!! But I also need to take a moment to say the credit is not all mine; thank you for making the SAL possible! The construction of 40 TOPS in 10 DAYS is no small feat; especially with many of us working, taking care of families, and not to mention Easter Holiday right smack in the middle of the whole thing.
...I know that some participants have been delayed a bit for one reason or another, but please remember the basis of the SAL:
I completely overlooked factoring in the Holiday. To that end please excuse me while I take Moderator's Liberty to extend the SAL three (3) additional days. If you've already sewn as many tops as you want for the moment - that's fine, but if you want to sew more - sew on. If you haven't sewn enough (that describes me) or haven't sewn at all, the extension will help
In the meantime, if you finish a top please email me at (fayedoll@cox.net) to let me know so it can be added to the lineup. Including a picture and pattern number will help.

Oh! That's very thoughtful, thank you. So far I love what everybody else is making! I'll just make the one but I hope it will come out pretty and spring-like!

ReplyDeleteI've had the serger apart as much as I can, cleaned, oiled, rethreaded, changed out the needles a few times (what a waste of new needles, but they kept bending!) and FINALLY got both the side/sleeve seams sewn this morning.
All that's left is the neck and hem - both coverstitch - now as long as THAT machine behaves :-) it may or may not fit, but it'll be done.
One of my sergers is acting crazy too. I'm taking her to the doctor's early tomorrow morning.

DeleteI'm aiming for two more tops! However, I have my first knitting lesson on Sunday so if that goes well I may be consumed! :)

DeleteThank you so much Faye, I am so excited that the date got extended.. Easter was in there, and I had to finish making 4 granddaughter's Easter dresses. Then got sick with asthma and have been in doctors office all week.. So sewing had been slow. ha. I have one blouse ready [need to photograph] ,but this will allow me to sew another one or two.. Yea..
