CREATING MY PANT'S BLOCK...

...block, sloper whatever it's called, I want one and am determined to create one.  Other than a pant's muslin that I made here, I haven't worked on my TNT pant's pattern since maybe early 2015 or late 2014. Consequently, I find myself needing new pants.  I kept telling myself that I needed to venture into new pants pattern territory - after all, I have so many new ones in my stash.  After spending an enormous amount of time trying to decide just what new pattern to use, I've decided to go back and tweak my TNT, rather than spending time totally reinventing the wheel.  I pulled the pattern out and made a few more adjustments according to newly acquired information before cutting out a pair to work on during the course of the week.

I'm hoping to get an even better fit this time.  Keeping my fingers crossed, because I am really ready to commit this pattern to tag or something similar.  I want this TNT pattern to finally become my  block/sloper so it can be used to judge and adjust other new pants patterns. 

In the meantime, I'm declaring today as sewing machine cleaning and maintenance day following SheilaCTK's lead.  I have to admit that mine are long overdue for cleaning.   Who's next...

IMPERFECTLY PERFECT...

...it's been a while, but I'm currently working on pants again.  The project is an UFO that I started and cut out last summer.  I'm working on refining my TNT pants pattern AND also on developing a pants block that will hopefully assist me in using other pants patterns of my choice. (does that make sense?)  The current pair was meant to be a wearable muslin, so I have new pants.

I used Burda 7062 which are close fitting, has waist facings and side zipper (moved the zipper to the back seam.)

My pants after a couple hours wear.  I'm calling them Imperfectly perfect.  I really like the fit and plan to make them again raising the crouch curve just a little next time.  There are two additional UFO's living in my sewing room.  How many reside in yours????

has almost become a regular old household name.  Although I don't spend quite as much time stuck in Pinterestland as I use to, I recently came up with the idea of using it to catalog my pattern stash collection.  I've tried using different data bases and spreadsheets to do this, but I either don't keep up with them and loose interest; or they just haven't proved effective enough methods to help me categorize.  For the most part I just ended up with a bunch of pattern numbers on a sheet.

I like color, and I like pictures, so creating boards in Pinterest to help me keep my inventory list in usable order was an excellent idea for me.  I'm sure someone else has already thought of this, after all there are NO ORIGINAL ideas or so it seems.  But just in case - I thought I'd share.  It'll probably be done by Christmas (hahaha).

I haven't made pants since last summer. Now I find myself in need of several colors and am sort of wanting to venture out of my TNT pants pattern comfort zone.  I want something simple in a skinny leg pant that, of course, fits well - so I chose this pattern for my next quest.  A long time ago my friend Paco advised that Burda and Simplicity patterns were best for fit.  I'm not really a Burda pattern fan but if this one works - I won't mind nominating it as my new TNT.  We'll see...
