DAY 9 - TOPS THAT POP SEW-A-LONG
(TOPS COMPLETED TO DATE: 30 AND GROWING!)
April 15th through April 30th
Marilyn - Mountain Top Spices - New Look 6472 |
Sheila - Sheilaz-CKT - Tank refashion from RTW garment |
Samina - Sew Everything Blog
My top is a re-fashion and scrap buster combined into one; it's a
hacked pattern from Colette Patterns' Sencha Blouse. It being spring
and all, I had to embroider butterflies! No more minimalism this spring.
The lower part was an old bias self-made dress and the
upper yoke is a scrap leftover from a linen jacket (also self-made).
April is earth month, so once a year I up cycle things I already own, and
complete UFOs and such. :)

and as for me:
Faye - Baste & Gather Foxglove Tank |
I'm always attracted tank tops for summer. This Baste & Gather Foxglove Tank caught my eye some time ago so I didn't have to think twice about purchasing the $5.00 pdf. I don't think Baste & Gather still sells patterns so I'm not sure if this pattern is still available. I used a 1 yard remnant from a rayon challis that I used to make a top for my baby Sister Pat last summer. Hope you're still enjoying your top Pat!
I LOVE rayon challis - but what fabric don't I love?! It makes nice and breezy tops for our humid and sticky Georgia summers. I try to make at least one per year from a pretty challis for easy breezy dressing. This pattern adapts itself to knits or wovens. The shoulders and racer back make it a true tank in every since of the word. The flowy high low hem will work well with jeans, crop pants, shorts or my favorite denim skirt. Just two pattern pieces - how great does it get. The pattern suggests using purchased bias tape for the neck and armholes, but I made my own because I don't like the way purchased bias tape feels against my skin. I think it's a WIN - a remnant and a PDF...

I love all of the ladies tops, Marilyn, Sheila, Samina and you, did really nice work! Faye you know I love any kind of unique tank top and the one you just made is really unique and very pretty! I love rayon challis too and have not made enough with that fabric so far this year. Time to change that!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Myra. You know I love challis so much. This tank only took 1 yard and you still get the swing effect. I do have a favorite McCall's 6751 that is also very nice too.
DeleteThis is a lot of fun Faye! I'm so glad our paths crossed in blogland. All the tops are amazing! It is fun scrolling through to look at each different one, and I love the cute top you made too :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you joined in on the fun Marilyn! I'm happy our paths crossed too - let's keep in touch even after this id done!
DeleteWow... really liking these tops that pop.
ReplyDeleteSuch a catchy title and all of the tops are popping!
DeleteFantastic lovely summer tops ladies! Ms. Faye Gather & Baste still do sell patterns. the Foxglove tank usually now sells for $12.00 but they have it on sale for $5.00 http://www.basteandgather.com/shop/foxglove-tank
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking on this Diane. Lots of people have expressed an interest in this really cool pattern on Facebook and Instagram. So glad it's on sale at $5.00.
DeleteLove your top Miss Faye. Haven't tried PDFs before but this is such a neat looking top.
ReplyDeleteThank you Catherine. I loved this flowy woven tank design and had to get the pattern. PDF's aren't my favorite option, but if I like the design and can't readily find it in one of the Big 4 companies I will go ahead and get them.
